Romero Map: One Humanity (Ultra-Violence, DOS-Style, First Attempt)
This is a blind playthrough of a new Romero map from Sigil 2, released earlier to spread awareness to the displaced Ukrainians in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. romero.com/shop/p/onehumanity
This is played in dsda-doom 0.24.1 using -complevel 2 on Ultra Violence, using the crunchy OG 320x200 resolution.
I have no idea how I lived. I should've died at least four times, and I didn't feel like toying with my surprisingly good first run with the Cyberdemon sharks waiting for me below.
Thoughts on the map: Visuals and gameplay is seriously good even if there are some minor stuff like that one small narrow sector and some slime trails here and there. Biggest gripe has to be the unmarked exit otherwise I would've looked around more. Regardless I really loved how troll-ish Romero's level design was in this. I see he's still sticking with those shootable evil eyes. Can't wait to see Sigil 2 completed!

I managed to found more footage of the lost Doom II builds and cleaned it up a little bit so it's more visible and sharper. I don't know who recorded themselves playing the builds to begin with, but I suspect it's one of the Id Software employees. In the past, John Romero has released many unused and older Doom assets. However, as of January this year Id Software has asked John Romero not to release any more Doom assets, and curiously enough seized all Doom 2 beta IWADs that were dated 7/16/1994. This video remained. Don't even try finding the IWAD. All of these IWAD builds were personalized.

Maybe the map is only created to beat at lower difficulty levels. Or there should be a very tricky trick, if its not allowed to jump. The only things that will make sense for me, is if it possible to walk on sprites. I cant see if it possible to walk up on the first platform, and then up on the demon, and then be very lucky to keep an angle in front of the demon so it walk over the blood, and then walk from the demon and up to the lava sprites.
